Can I place a Delivery order at any time of the day or night?

Yes you can! Fast Lane's Services are available 24/7, 365 days a year with our diverse Trucking Services:

Regular Industrial Courier Services: Standard hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; available through Fast Lane's On-Line Ordering system, or through Dispatch from our office at (780) 463-8685.

You can also use the On-Line system to place your order after regular hours for Next Day Delivery. If using the On-Line System after regular hours for any Next Day morning Rush Services, please call Dispatch after opening at 8 a.m. to confirm our receipt of your Delivery order.

After Hour Industrial Courier Services: Any time after 5 p.m. to regular opening hours of 8 a.m., as well as Saturdays and Sundays. Your Delivery orders must be placed through Dispatch from our office.

In-City Hotshots (Hot Shots): Any time day or night, including weekends by calling Fast Lane Dispatch. Orders can also be placed On-Line during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but we ask that you call Dispatch to confirm.

OGEA Hotshots (Hot Shots): Hotshot Services for delivery Outside of Greater Edmonton Area to anywhere in Western Canada are available any time day or night, including weekends by calling Fast Lane Dispatch.

Do you provide any training for your On-Line Ordering system?

Yes we do!

We have a User Guide that is available On-Line to all of our registered users. If you still feel that you need assistance, we are more than happy to book an appointment to sit down with you. One of our knowledgeable staff can offer you training at your facility if you are within the Greater Edmonton Area. Please call Fast Lane to set up an appointment at (780) 463-8685. What various Features does your Advanced On-Line Technology System provide?

Fast Lane encourages you to use our On-Line system to take advantage of:

Quotes: A tool to establish an estimated cost of a Delivery before placing an On-Line Waybill. After answering a series of questions about your Delivery, you arrive at a Quoted Cost. They can be saved as Quotes for reference, but they are also your first step in creating an On-Line Waybill.

On-Line Waybills: To place your orders for Delivery via the Fast Lane On-Line System.

Administration Functions for both On-Line and Manual Hard Copy Waybills:
Waybill Summary Reports: for selected date ranges
Waybill Details: provides detailed information of your Individual Deliveries
Reports Summary: for selected date ranges including costs and total costs for the selected date range

Maps: Fast Lane has compiled printable Maps that we provide Delivery Services to for:

Quotes will give you a very close estimate for your delivery costs. Quotes can also enable you to decide what level of service you prefer based on costs. You save time placing phone calls to inquire about costs by quickly going through the steps to create a Quote.

Waybills save you time making phone calls to Dispatch for your Delivery by quickly converting your Quote to an On-line Waybill with the click of a button! Your addresses for your waybills are there at your fingertips from previously entered addresses.

What is a Hotshot (Hot Shot)?

A Hot Shot (Hotshot) is a type of delivery that is needed immediately or for an emergency. An order from your Seller will be immediately placed en route to your destination on one of our vehicles, dedicated to you our Customer alone, to arrive as quickly as humanly and legally possible. As we say at Fast Lane Transport, from A to B, don't stop to pee!

What is Palletizing a Shipment?

Pallets are portable rigid platforms used to consolidate shipments and allow for ease of freight movement. Quality pallets are commonly made of either wood or plastic and can weigh between 20 and 70 lbs. Shipments are placed on pallets for easier and safer handling for light items, and a means to transfer heavier items by forklift.

What is Strapping a Load?

Pallets or loose items are secured to the deck or box of the vehicle with either nylon webbed tie downs certified for weight or with chains, cinched with either ratchets or winches for safe handling and shipping, and to prevent damages and losses to freight.

Fast Lane's strict policies for strapping loads requires our drivers to strap all pallets and loose freight.

What is TDG?

TDG stands for Transportation of Dangerous Goods. In Canada, the transportation of potentially hazardous materials is regulated under the federal Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations which are administered by Transport Canada. The TDG Act and Regulations set out criteria for the classification of materials as dangerous goods and state how these materials must be packaged and shipped.

Fast Lane's drivers are required to take training to be certified for TDG.

What is WHMIS?

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System or WHMIS is the name given to the legislation covering hazardous materials used in Canadian workplaces. The legislation has been implemented by the federal, provincial ,territorial governments in Canada effective October 31, 1988.

WHMIS was created to help stop the injuries, illnesses, deaths and medical costs resulting from exposure to hazardous materials.

WHMIS is Canada's comprehensive plan for providing the information that's necessary for preventing illnesses and injuries. The main components of WHMIS are hazard identification and product classification, labeling, material safety data sheets, and worker training and education.

Fast Lane's drivers are required to take training to be certified for WHMIS.
